October 16, 2007 - Shawn Mills Leaves Wyoming Innovations Network to Pursue Entrepreneurial Endeavor with Greenhouse Data

Laramie, WY- Shawn Mills, Executive Director of the Wyoming Innovations Network, will be leaving the WTO to pursue other business ventures in the state.

Mr. Mills, who has served as Executive Director since July of 2006, stated, “After all this time assisting others I have also been bit by the entrepreneur bug. I will take advantage of the encouraging business climate we have in Wyoming, by moving forward on an opportunity, Green House Data,” as the reason for his departure.

Mike Kmetz, WTO Board Member said, “In working with Shawn, I have seen an aggressive and capable leader who gets things done. Shawn was a great asset to the organization. His emphasis on marketing and increasing awareness along with relentless enthusiasm greatly aided Wyoming’s developing Tech Industry. He will be missed”.

Some of the notable accomplishments of Shawn Mills’ tenure as Executive Director include growing the Wyoming Innovations Network from a handful of tech companies to over 140 different members, overseeing the acquisition of the Association of Wyoming Manufacturers, and the publication of two ground breaking documents, The State of the Technology Industry 2006 Wyoming Report and Growing the Technology Industry in Wyoming: A Vision and Action Plan for Strengthening and Diversifying Wyoming’s Economy. Additionally, Mr. Mills was responsible for publicizing the industry through online podcasts and a partnership with Casper’s K2 News to produce segments about the state’s tech companies on their “Good Morning Wyoming” program. While leading the WTO, Mr. Mills met with Wyoming’s Senators and Representative in Washington, D.C. to advocate for greater national investments in the Wyoming technology sector.

The Wyoming Innovations Network has hired a new Executive Director. The new director will be announced at a later date. Look for additional information in the coming weeks.
